This beautiful Satin Millipedes is healthy, active and feeding well. They are a hardy species known for their smooth, glossy appearance and gentle nature. Their colours become richer and more defined as they mature.

Current Care

Enclosure:
Approx 30x20x15cm acrylic terrarium or similar, with excellent ventilation and plenty of floor space.

Temperature:
Daytime: 22–25°C
Night: 18–20°C

Humidity:
70–90%, maintained with regular misting and a moisture-retentive substrate. Consistent humidity is important for healthy moults.

Furnishings:

  • Deep substrate layer (at least 10–15cm) for burrowing and moulting

  • Leaf litter and decaying wood for nutrition and enrichment

  • Cork bark or hides to provide natural shelter

  • Good airflow to prevent stagnant moisture

Substrate:
A mix of coco fibre, rotting wood, leaf litter, and soil, kept moist but not waterlogged.

Feeding:
Feeding well on:

  • Leaf litter

  • Decayed hardwood

  • Slices of cucumber, courgette, sweet potato, squash
